design has helped humans to conceive and shape all of their built environment in an efficient way; and when it came to making sense of business, design stepped into management where it is proving everyday its capability for problem solving.

yet, we know that the truly crucial problems mankind are facing rely, not on the production function, but on the natural environment which is, in turn, explained by science.

by introducing design thinking into science we would help i) to better communicate -and therefore understand- the scientific wealth of knowledge, which is a good enough goal in itself, and ii) help solving scientific problems and, through this, maybe contribute to consistently improve people’s future.

I personally find this idea rather seducing, for it’s a whole new and fascinating field of truly meaningful action.

This is why I campaign in favour of “Science Design” and for this topic to be included in the forecoming design conferences.
